1. Ngozi Ezeonu

Ngozi Ezeonu, born Ngozi Ikpelue , May 23 1965, is  Nigerian one of the actresses from Anambra state  former journalist, notable for playing maternal characters in Nollywood movies.Actresses from Anambra state

In 2012, she starred in Adesuwa , a role that earned her the Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 8th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

A native of Ogbunike, a town in the Oyi local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria, Ezeonu, was born in Owerri to Dennis and Ezenwanyi Ikpelue.

Prior to finding fame as an actress, she studied Journalism at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and worked for Radio Lagos and Eko FM.

Although best known for her maternal roles, Ezeonu was originally cast as young single characters at the start of her career. In 1993, veteran film director Zeb Ejiro offered Ezeonu a supporting role as Nkechi, the antagonist’s best friend in the Igbo blockbuster Nneka The Pretty Serpent. This was followed by her role in 1994’s Glamour Girls as Thelma, a high society woman making a living as a courtesan.

2. Chioma Chukwuka Akpota

Chioma Chukwuka Akpota popularly known as Chioma Chukwuka is a famous Nollywood actress, producer, singer, model, entrepreneur, philanthropist and a television personality. 

She has been in the industry for over a decade. She always plays the role of a good and submissive house wife, orphan, widow, royal princess, palace maid, president daughter, industrious working class lady, girlfriend.

She was born on 12th March 1980 in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, in the south eastern part of Nigeria. She is currently 40 years old. Chioma Chukwuka is currently a GLO ambassador. She began her career as a backup singer and dancer at a very tender age, before joining the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood professionally. 

Chioma Chukwuka completed both her nursery and primary school education at Onward Nursery and Primary School in Lagos State in the south western part of Nigeria, and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate. After completing her primary school education, Chioma Chukwuka proceeded to Federal Government Girls College in Onitsha, Anambra State, in the south eastern part of Nigeria for her secondary school education, and obtained her West African Senior School Certificate.

She then proceeded to Lagos State University (LASU) and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance. In 2000, Chioma Chukwuka joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood, professionally and acted in her first movie titled “The Handkerchief,” a movie that brought her to limelight, and gave her a lot of advantage in Nollywood. Due to her innocent role in movies, her ability to avoid sex roles in movie and her ability to avoid social media scandal, she is fondly called Nollywood Virgin by movie lovers.

As a kid, Chioma Chukwuka dream was to become an actress. While growing up she admired several Hollywood and British actors and wanted to be like them. She wanted to become famous when she grows up. She began acting in her local church and joined her church dramatic club in Lagos at a very tender age, and appeared in several stage play and drama. 

Chioma Chukwuka has acted in more than 250 Nollywood movies. Some of the movies she has acted include Red Soil, Double Game, Asunder, Dead in Faith, Desperate Ambition, Disguise, Sins of the Flesh, Odum na Akwaeke, and many more. Her role in Odum na Akwaeke won her the award for Best Actress in Indigenous movie (local language epic) at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. Chioma Chukwuka also co-produced and starred in the award winning and blockbuster movie “On Bended kneels,” which received a commercial success and global recognition. Her role in the romantic movie “Disguise,” which she starred alongside Emeka Ike and directed by Tchidi Chikere, also won her the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy awards.

In 2007, Chioma Chukwuka received the Best Actress award in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards for her role in the movie “Sins of the Flesh”. In 2010, Chioma Chukwuka won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Afro Hollywood Awards. In 2006, Chioma Chukwuka got married to her long time boyfriend, Franklin Akpotha and the marriage is blessed with beautiful kids. 

In 2010, Chioma Chukwuka won the award for Best Prize Actress in a Leading Role at the Event Afro Hollywood Awards. In 2014, Chioma Chukwuka was nominated as a brand ambassador of the year at the Exquisite Lady of the Year (ELOY) Awards. 

Chioma Chukwuka has also won the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the City People Entertainment Awards, Most Promising Actress in Nigeria at the Afro Hollywood Awards and many more.

3. Maureen Okpoko

Maureen Okpoko is a Nigerian actress. In 2016, she was nominated for Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

In 2013, she starred in Golden Egg , which also featured Justus Esiri. Speaking on what she can’t do in a film, she stated that she wouldn’t act nude, mainly because she would not look nice unclothed. Okpoko has also featured in several Nigerian television series including Dear Mother ,Clinic Matters , Neta , University Mafias , Sorrowful Child, Sacrifice the Baby , Red Scorpion and Baby Oku. In 2015, she acted alongside Majid Michel and Beverly Naya in The Madman I Love. Okpoko was also one of the cast members in Uche Jombo’s Good Home (2016), which featured Okey Uzoeshi and Seun Akindele. The film plot addressed human trafficking from the Nigerian perspective.

Okpoko is a native of Anambra State . She is of Nigerian and Jamaican descent. She is married with three children.

4. Nuella Njubigbo

Nuella Njubigbo is a Nigerian actress and scriptwriter. She was nominated for Rising Star Award category at the 2012 Nollywood Movies Awards.

She is a native of Anambra Statem. She studied Government and Public Administration at Imo State University. She served in Delta State during her National Youth Service Corps program.

5. Chika Ike

Chikadebia Nancy Ike was born on the 8th of November 1985 in Onitsha, Anambra State, to Mr and Mrs Ike. For her higher education, she passed through a 2-year diploma program in human kinetics and health education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in 2004.

On completing her diploma program in 2006, she proceeded to obtain a degree in human kinetics and health education from the same institution.

Chika Ike graduated from the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles, California, in 2014. She studied film-making at the Academy. Chika also studied Business at Harvard Business School. She was once married but divorced in 2013, due to domestic violence.

At age six, Chika started featuring in church plays. After she graduated from secondary school, she ventured into modelling and was just 16 years old at the time. She commenced her Nollywood career in 2005, with Tchidi Chikere’s Sweet Love and Bless the Child. Chika Ike was once the brand ambassador of Bullet Energy drink.

She established her production company, Chika Ike Production, in 2014 and produced her first movie Miss Teacher afterwards. Chika Ike owns a reality show called the African Diva Reality TV Show

She is the executive producer, host, and member of the shows’ judging panel. Chika collaborated with ROK Studios to produce movies like: Happy Ending and Stuck on You.

In 2011, Chika Ike launched her fashion line, Fancy Nancy, in Abuja, Nigeria. That same year, she established an NGO called Help a Child Foundation

The NGO is aimed at helping street children, and giving them hope for a better tomorrow. Through the foundation, she gives back to the society.

On 29 March 2014, she married film director Tchidi Chikere in her family compound in Anambra State . Their union was the subject of the media for days mainly, because the groom was previously married to another actress Sophia Chikere with three kids. Tchidi however gave reasons for the breakup of his previous marriage amidst public outcry.

6. Queen Nwokoye

Queen was born on August 11, 1982, to Mr and Mrs Nwokoye – devoted members of the Catholic Church. The actress was born into a family of seven. She hails from Ihembosi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Anambra State, but she was bred in Lagos State for a while.

Queen started her education at Air Force Primary School and Queens Secondary School in Enugu. The beautiful actress is also a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Queen Nwokoye made her acting debut in 2004 (after her National Youth Service) in a movie titled: Nna Men; and since then, she has starred in over two hundred home movies in the Nollywood.

The beautiful actress of vast credit actually confessed that she had wanted to further her education in Law, before fate brought her to the acting scene. The screen star added that she gained the full support of her family when she started acting; which actually paved way for her outstanding performances.

Queen Nwokoye is well known for starring as the lead character in a 2014 film titled Chetanna.

The Nigeria-born film actress featured in movies like His Majesty (2004); The Girl is Mine (2004); Security Risk (2004); Save The Baby (2005); Back Drop (2005); Speak The Word (2006); My Girlfriend (2006); Last Kobo (2006).

Others include Lady of Faith (2006); Disco Dance (2006 ); Clash of Interest (2006) ; The Last Supper (2007) and When You Are Mine (2007).

She was also influential in other movies like Angelic Bride (2008); Prince of The Niger (2009); Personal Desire (2009); League of Gentlemen (2009); Last Mogul of the League (2009); Jealous Friend (2009); Makers of Justice (2010); Mirror of Life (2011); End of Mirror of Life (2011).

The screen star also played amazing roles in these movies: The Cabals (2007); Show Me Heaven (2007); Short of Time (2007); Sand in My Shoes (2007); Powerful Civilian (2007); Old Cargos (2007); My Everlasting Love (2007); Confidential Romance (2007); The Evil Queen (2008); Temple of Justice (2008); Onoja (2008); Heart of a Slave (2008).

Her most difficult role came in Adure and its sequel Ada Mbano. According to the Anambra state born actress, getting to speak the Imo State dialect in the movie was so tasking.

During the 2011 Best of Nollywood Awards, Queen Nwokoye won the Fresh Scandal Free Actress Award. She also won the Best Indigenous Female Actress Award in the 2015 ZAFAA African Film Academy Awards.

In 2015 and 2016, respectively, the beautiful actress won the Best of Nollywood Awards, the Best Actress in a Leading Role (Igbo), and the Face of Nollywood at the City People Entertainment Awards.

She is married to Mr Uzoma, a handsome young man from Imo State who is believed to be a pastor residing in Johannesburg, South Africa. The two got married in 2011 and they are believed to have twin boys who are now grown up.

Queen Nwokoye is one of the few female Nollywood actresses who is not involved in any celebrity scandal so far. She said during an interview with a news media outlet, that she chose to keep her marital life a secret because her family is where she finds peace.

7. Ebube Nwagbo

Ebube Nwagbo is a famous Nollywood actress, model, television personality, investor, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. She was born on 24 February 1983 in Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria but she grew up in Warri, Delta State in the south southern part of Nigeria.

Ebube Nwagbo is the first child in the family of six children. Her hometown is Anambra State, Nigeria. She completed both her primary and secondary education in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria and obtained both her First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.

After completing her secondary school education, Ebube Nwagbo proceeded to Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra State, Nigeria and obtained a National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication.

After obtaining her National Diploma, Ebube Nwagbo proceeded to Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication.

After completing her university education, in 2003 at the age of 20 years old, Ebube Nwagbo joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood), and started attending movie auditions and acting as minor character in movies. She rose to fame after acting in the popular Nollywood movies Arrested by Love, Eyes of the Nun and Before My Eyes.

Ebube Nwagbo is currently one of the highest paid actress in Nigeria, she earn minimum of two million naira per movie. The movie “Widow’s Cult” is her highest paid movie. She was paid seven million naira in the movie with the task to shave off her hair as a widow in the movie.

Ebube Nwagbo has acted in more than 150 Nollywood movies which include Arrested by Love, Royal Palace, Before My Eyes, Against My Blood, Eyes of the Nun, Mama, Widow’s Cult, I Will Die for You, Power of Trust, Not Yours, Ojuju Calabar, The Illiterate Wife, etc.

Ebube Nwagbo in the cause of her acting career has won several awards, which include Best Actress of the Year at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Most Promising Actress in Nigeria at the City People Entertainment Awards, Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Best of Nollywood Awards and Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

8. Rita Edochie

Rita Edochie comes from Nigeria in Anambra state. She started her acting career as an actress in 1997.

She studied at Onitsha for her secondary school education. She got married to Tony Edochie of Anambra Broadcasting Service, soon after completing her secondary school education.

Later, she joined the University and graduated in 1990. Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) was her first employer after finishing her university studies. Eventually, she ventured into acting, a practice she loves most.

Rita Edochie’s family is very wide and compost of actors. Many people wonder if Rita Edochie and Pete Edochie are husband and wife. Well, that is not true.

Pete Edochie is a veteran successful Nollywood actor in both Nigeria and Africa. He is one of the most common faces in contemporary Africa. She is the wife to Pete Edochie’s younger brother and thus a family member to the legendary Nollywood actor.

Rita Edochie has been married to Tony Edochie for over 30 years now. Therefore, Rita Edochie is married to the younger brother of Pete Edochie, contrary to what many people tend to believe.

She is married to the younger brother of the legendary Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie and is a mother of four children. She has several grandchildren as well.

She is a graduate of Mass Communication from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and has featured in uncountable movies. She starred in the movie “Waterloo” and is popular for taking up motherly roles.

Before concentrating in her career as an actress, Rita worked for 15 years as a presenter at Anambra State Broadcasting Services.

9. Dolly Unachukwu

Dolly Unachukwu, born 1 November 1969, is a Nigerian actress.

Dolly Unachukwu is one of the pioneers of Nollywood , a talented actress, writer, producer and recently turned film director. Born in 1969 to a family of seven, Unachukwu started her acting career at the age of 16. A native of Amichi in Anambra state, she first featured in a television programme junior drama in 1985 as a secretary. Later that year she was cast in the prime time soap opera Mirror in the Sun as Prisca, but it was her role in Fortunes that made her a household name in 1993, where she played ‘Fadeke’, the subdued wife of a millionaire, an ideal Nigerian woman. Unachukwu made her debut in films with her performances in Deadly Affair and Deadly Affair II , where she featured alongside nollywood veterans such as; Emeka Ike , Sandra Achums and Jide Kosoko . Speaking three different Nigerian language in the film. Unachukwu played a mean pimp in the controversial film Glamour Girls , a film that later won the most popular Nigerian film in America in 1995.

In 1997, Unachukwu produced her life story, Wildest Dream. In the film, she narrated the ordeal of her first marriage, which crashed in 1994, making her a single parent. Her estranged husband threatened to sue her over using his real name in the film. Unachukwu remarried in 2000 and in August of the same year she move to join her husband in England, only to split up with him at the airport upon realising that he had not been all that truthful to her. Now in England, Unachukwu acquired more knowledge as she got the European Computer Driving Licence in 2002 and the next year began a three-year degree course in Films and Videos at the East London University Docklands, taking two years off to care for a new baby girl that arrived in 2004. She graduated in June 2008. Unachukwu produced and directed her own film, called The Empire in 2005, while on break from the university.

Unachukwu attended the Television College Jos in Plateau State , where she received a diploma in Television Production in 1988. She later went on to study phonetics in 1989 at the FRCN Training school Lagos and then went to the Lagos State University in 1990 and earned a diploma in Law.

10. Oge Okoye

Oge Okoye, born 16 November 1980, is a Nigerian actress . Okoye was born in London, and later moved to live in Lagos with her family. She is a native of Nnewi, a small town in Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria.

Despite the facts that she was born in the United Kingdom, she decided to study and build her career in Nigeria. Oge received a partial pre-school education in London and then attended the University Primary School Enugu and at the Holy Rosary College, Enugu.

The actress was born in a family of devout Anglicans. Mr. and Mrs. Okoye taught their daughter of integrity, honesty, courage, inspired fear of God.

At school, Oge took part in several theatrical events, thereby attracting the attention of many of her teachers. They told her that she has a talent and would certainly be good if she thought about choosing acting as her future career. Okoye studied Theater Arts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Akwa, Anambra State.

In 2001, when Oge began her acting career, she was still green and inexperienced. But, risking, gathered strength, she went to the audition and got the role. It was a minor role, but the actress starred it. After filming, Oge so inspired the director and producer that they predicted the actress a great future, claimed that she would go far if she works hard. After the film, Oge began to receive offers.

11. Jennifer Eliogu

Jennifer Eliogu, born April 30, 1976, is a Nigerian actress and singer mainly notable for being an actress. In 2016, Eliogu received the Special Recognition Award at the City People Entertainment Awards, for her contributions to the Nigerian movie industry. Eliogu, In 2014 for her role in empowering women, was presented the Award For Excellence at the African Women Leadership Conference which took place in the United States of America.

Eliogu is from Idemili in Anambra State , a southeastern geographical area of Nigeria but was raised in Lagos state , which is southwest Nigeria. Eliogu obtained a diploma from the University of Jos and obtained her B.Sc. degree from Lagos State University.

Eliogu in 1997 officially debuted into the Nigerian movie industry with the movie titled House On Fire. Eliogu briefly exited the Nigerian movie industry and delved into music professionally in 2012 and released her first music project titled Ifunanya, which was nominated for an award in that same year for Best R&B Video at the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA).

Eliogu was awarded the Special Recognition Award at the City People Entertainment Awards In 2016.
