Identity Of Police Officer Who Stabbed Two Civilian Recently To Death In Bauchi Revealed
It has been found that two persons were stabbed to death on March 24, 2022, by members of the Nigeria Police Force from the Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
Anger Youths rushed the Yelwa Divisional Headquarters in Bauchi to protest the death of two individuals by a police officer, according to reports earlier in the day.
The suspected cop is accused of stabbing three persons with a knife, two of whom died as a result of the attack.
During the event, a crowd took over the streets and blocked the route leading from the Elim Church intersection to the Yelwa Divisional Headquarters, causing instability.
The identity of the culprit, PC Lukman Madaki, was provided by the police command in a statement made available to the media hours after the event erupted, confirming that it had occurred.
According to reports, the officer from Toro Division is assigned to the Sports Office at the Bauchi State Police Command Headquarters.
The incident occurred during a patrol at a black spot in Yelwa, according to SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, a spokesman for the State Police Command, who provided information of the incident to the media on Friday, March 25, in a statement.
Wakil said that Madaki, who was attempting to flee arrest, assaulted members of the Peace and Security committee attached to the patrol team with a knife. Madaki was arrested and charged with attempted evasion.
According to the police spokesman, the victims were brought to the hospital, where two of them were pronounced dead by a medical practitioner after being declared dead.
The police statement read: “On 24/03/2022 at about 2230hrs, a Patrol team attached to E’ Division while on visibility patrol around a black spot at Rafin surfing, Yelwa arrested F/no. 519342 PC Lukman Madaki 29yrs of Toro Division attached to Sports Office, Bauchi State Police Command Headquarters,” the PPRO stated.
The statement added: “In a bid to resist arrest, PC Lukman employed the use of Jackknife, stabbed and injured the following members of the Peace and Security committee attached to the patrol team.”
The names of the victims are revealed as Abdulmalik Mohammed, 22, of sabon gida yelwa, Sadiq, 23, of Sabon Gida Yelwa and Nazifi Mohammed, 19, of Yelwan labourer.
”The victims were rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi for treatment where Abdulmalik Mohammed and Sadiq were certified dead by a medical doctor, while Nazifi Mohammed the third victim is currently responding to treatment.
”The suspect has since been arrested and detained while investigation has commenced in earnest,” Wakil noted.
