Simone Biles obtained Belizean citizenship through her adopted mother and considers Belize to be her second home. She and her family are devoted Roman Catholics.

Simone attended Benfer Elementary School in Harris County before switching to homeschooling in 2012 to dedicate more time to gymnastics training. She completed her secondary education through homeschooling and graduated in mid-2015.

Simone had plans to enroll at UCLA after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and she signed with the university in November 2014. Additionally, in 2018, she pursued online business administration studies at the University of the People while serving as a brand ambassador for the institution.

Simone Biles started her gymnastics journey at the age of six when she participated in a day-care field trip. Impressed by her skills, instructors encouraged her to continue, leading her to join Bannon’s Gymnastics’ training program under coach Aimee Boorman at the age of eight. Simone Biles previously dated fellow gymnast Stacey Ervin Jr. from 2017 to 2020. Currently, she is in a relationship with American football player Jonathan Owens, whom she met in August 2020.

During the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Simone Biles faced a challenging moment when she announced her withdrawal from the finals of the individual all-around competition and later from the vault and uneven bars finals. She cited mental health concerns, specifically experiencing the “twisties,” which affects a gymnast’s air awareness during twisting elements. This decision garnered both criticism and support from around the world.
