Early Life and Education:

Ronald Lamola was born on November 21, 1983, in Bushbuckridge, South Africa. He joined the ANC Youth League when he was just thirteen years old in 1996. After finishing high school in 2000, he studied law at the University of Venda.

During university, Lamola held leadership positions, such as President of the Student Representative Council and Chairperson of the South African Students Congress in Limpopo. He pursued further legal education and obtained degrees in corporate law and banking law from the University of South Africa and the University of Pretoria.

Career:

Lamola began his legal career in 2006 at TMN Kgomo and Associates. He later worked in various roles, including at the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality and the Office of the Mpumalanga MEC for Culture, Sports, and Recreation. He briefly served as an acting spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Premier in 2011.

Lamola was involved in the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) as Deputy President alongside Julius Malema. He has been a critic of former ANC President Jacob Zuma and supported Cyril Ramaphosa’s bid for ANC President. He became a Member of the National Executive Committee of the ANC and the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services in 2019.

Personal Life:

In 2013, Lamola married Bawinile “Winnie” Msiza. He is a prominent lawyer and politician with an estimated net worth of $500,000.
