Over the years, he climbed the corporate ladder, serving as Deputy Manager and Manager at the African International Bank Limited. In 2001, he became the Manager of Zenith Bank’s main branch in Maiduguri. However, his passion for public service led him to join the Borno State government as Commissioner for Finance in 2007. He held various positions in different ministries, including Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Education, Agriculture, and Health
