Early Life and Education
Ifeanyi Okowa was born in Owa-Alero, Delta State. He attended Edo College in Benin City from 1970 to 1976 and later studied medicine and surgery at the University of Ibadan, obtaining his MBBS degree in 1981. After completing his studies, he worked as a Medical Officer for the Bendel State Hospitals Management Board.
In 1986, Okowa ventured into private business as the Director of Victory Medical Centre in Igbanke. His political journey took off when he joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He held various roles within the party and gained experience in local governance.
He was elected as a senator for Delta North Senatorial District in the April 2011 national elections, which marked a significant step towards his political prominence. Additionally, he became the first governor of Delta State from the Anioma ethnic group, securing the position after winning the state elections in April 2015.
