Fathia’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Williams, come from a polygamous family. She attended Maryland Primary School and Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School in Lagos State. Later, she pursued her education at Kwara State Polytechnic, where she obtained a Diploma Certificate in Law.


Interestingly, Fathia Balogun Williams did not initially aspire to become an actress. She dreamt of becoming a lawyer, but due to the rigorous demands of law studies, she had to abandon her dreams. Fathia struggled with passing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams, which led to an extended period at home. Subsequently, her father granted her the freedom to pursue her passions.

Fate intervened when Fathia’s uncle, Alhaji Fatai Teniola, asked her to stand in for an actress who failed to show up on set. Fathia performed exceptionally well, impressing everyone. This opportunity marked the beginning of her successful acting career. She has since become not only a renowned actress but also a film producer and director.


Throughout her career, Fathia Balogun Williams has received numerous accolades for her outstanding performances. Some of her notable awards include the Most Outstanding Actress Indigenous (2008), AMVCA Best Local Language Yoruba (2015), City People Movie Special Recognition Award (2016), Nigeria Entertainment Award for Best Actress (2016), and City People Movie Award for Best Actress of the Year (Yoruba, 2017).

Fathia Balogun Williams was previously married to Saidi Balogun in the 1990s, and they have two children together, Khalid Balogun and Aaliyah Balogun. Although rumors of their separation circulated, Fathia denied them, maintaining that they were still together. However, the couple officially divorced in 2014. Fathia continued to use her husband’s surname until 2017 when she reverted to her maiden name, Williams. Despite their separation, Fathia and Saidi Balogun remain close friends and even acted together in a movie directed by Fathia titled “The Market Place.”
