Amamkele Lithemba Qamata, fondly known as Ama Qamata, was born in Cala, a small town in the Sakhisizwe Local Municipality of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. When she was three years old, her family relocated to Johannesburg. Ama discovered her passion for acting through school productions and eventually ventured into television advertising.
She attended Reddam House Bedfordview and took a gap year after completing her matriculation in 2016. Subsequently, she enrolled at the University of Cape Town to pursue a degree in Theatre and Performance but decided to leave during her second year.
