Ukraine states conditions while on peace talks with Russia

During the peace negotiations with Russia, the Ukrainian government is requesting a ceasefire and a military pullout.

Mykhailo Podolyak, Ukraine’s Presidential Advisor, made the announcement on Monday.

According to NAN, he stated that Ukraine would be willing to discuss any neighborly ties and political agreements with Russia only once the country’s policies were implemented.

Podolyak reaffirmed the need for peace and the departure of Russian forces from Ukraine in a brief statement.

“Our positions remain unchanged: peace, immediate ceasefire, withdrawal of all Russian troops,” Podolyak said.

The fourth round of video-link discussions between both the Ukrainian and Russian delegations was set for Monday.

So yet, no breakthrough has been achieved despite earlier in-person negotiations in Belarus and current working group conversations.

Even as Russia’s attack on Ukraine increases, both Kiev and Moscow have voiced cautious confidence about the progress of peace negotiations in the last day.

“If we compare the two delegations’ positions at the talks at the very beginning and today, we will see considerable progress,” Leonid Slutsky, a Russian lawmaker specialising in foreign policy said.
