Tara Fela-Durotoye was born to John Ejegi Sagay and Felicia Omaghomi at St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos. Her parents divorced when she was just eight months old, and she was raised by Modupe Agnes Sagay. She attended the Command Children’s School on Victoria Island before continuing her education at Nigeria Navy Secondary School in Ojoo, where she was appointed Sanitary and Welfare Prefect in Form 5. Later, Tara pursued a law degree at Lagos State University.

In 1999, Tara Fela-Durotoye became a trailblazer in the bridal makeup industry. She founded Nigeria’s first bridal directory, international-standard makeup studios, and the country’s inaugural makeup school.
