Tambuwal Friends Purchase PDP Presidential Form On Behalf Of Him
On Thursday, a group of friends headed by Aree Olumiyiwa Akinboro bought Expressions of Interest and Nomination Forms for Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State to run in the next presidential election from the Peoples Democratic Party.
The form was acquired only days after the major opposition party set a price of N40 million for their presidential form.
While handing over the forms and other documentation to the organisation, Bature, the party’s national organising secretary, indicated that proper procedures were followed in the selling of the forms.
In a statement on behalf of the organization, Akinboro said that the form was bought by concerned Nigerians who are concerned about the situation of the nation and want Tambuwal to lead it.
He said, “Tambuwal is someone we have all known for 30 years and nothing has changed about him. He’s humble, focused and intelligent. People ask if he has the money to pursue this ambition. That is why we are here to buy this form for him. He’s not aware but we as professional and apolitical, we want him to lead.”
He urged the PDP to submit its strongest candidate and concentrate on zoning after the election, when speaking about the party’s strategy to zone its presidential ticket.
Akinboro further stated, “As regards zoning, we believe Tambuwal is a native of Nigeria and this is someone who is at home in all parts of the nation. Just look at us, we have Yoruba, Igbo, Ibibio, and we are saying, PDP, put your best foot forward. You can see there are no money bags here, but the little we have, we will use for him.
“PDP, you have a good chance to win this election. This election will be decided by simple Nigerians and we are part of that simple Nigerians.”
