Shekarau Dumps APC, Picks NNPP Membership Card

Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano State, has chosen to join the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Shekarau has officially deserted the All Progressives Congress, according to a statement released by the NNPP on Tuesday on its Twitter account.

Shekarau, who was chosen to represent Kano’s central senatorial district, left the governing party after a major conflict.

Abdullahi Ganduje, the Governor of Kano State, attempted to prevent Shekarau’s defection only days after Abdulmumini Jibrin, the former Director-General of the Bola Tinubu presidential campaign team, defected to the NNPP.

The president was reportedly active in preventing Shekarau from abandoning the governing party, but their efforts were in vain.

Many of Shekarau’s fans saw his defection to the fast-growing party at Shekarau’s Mundubawa home.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s leader and former Governor of Kano State, was present for the official defection and handed over Shekarau’s NNPP membership card.

Political stakeholders and supporters from the kwankwasiyya camp, the leadership of the Shura council at Shekarau’s residence, and other well-wishers were in attendance.
