Shehu Sani Mocks APC Following Buni’s Escapade

Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central and a top leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reacted to the governing All Progressives Congress’s (APC) leadership crisis (APC).

Sani characterized the event as a coup on his Twitter account.

The governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, convened over a session of the ruling All Progressives Congress’s Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) on Monday, soon after the ruling party denied terminating Mai Mala Buni (APC).  The meeting took place inside the party’s secretariat in Abuja, which was encircled by armed security officers to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

When asked about taking over as the APC’s new leader, Sani declined to confirm or reject the news, instead stating that he has been acting since the chairman (Mai Mala Buni) went on a trip.

“Acting chairman, I have been acting for a while because the chairman travels,” Bell remarked after sitting over a CECPC meeting on the leadership “confusion.”

When asked if he is now totally in command of the party, the Governor of Niger State said, “No comment.”

Governor Bello said that he administered the oath of office to APC state chairpersons during the meeting on Monday, and they addressed matters related to the party’s National Convention.

“The state chairmen took their oath of office today and we discussed progress made so far on convention and what needs to be done next so that we will achieve the March 26 date for convention,” he said.
