President Buhari begs ASUU to shelve strike plans
Following the government’s failure to meet the union’s requests, President Muhammadu Buhari has joined other stakeholders in the country in urging members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to postpone their planned strike.
The president told ASUU that the Federal Government will keep promises made to them to prevent academic programs from being disrupted by strikes by increasing educational spending.
The President made the pledge during a meeting with members of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), which was chaired by the Co-Chairs, Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, and President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Samson Ayokunle.
He expressed his gratitude to NIREC for intervening in ASUU’s year-long strike by having consultations with all parties involved.
