Oshiomhole Meets With APC Chairman Over Rigging Allegation

Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole met with the All Progressives Congress’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, in a closed-door meeting at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.

The news came two days after the former APC national chairman and APC presidential contender and Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, sparred over rigging allegations.

After the meeting, the senatorial candidate for 2023 drove out of the secretariat, refusing to provide an appearance to waiting media.

Although the APC secretariat made no public comment about the reason of his visit, rumors were widespread that the meeting may be linked to last Sunday’s senatorial candidate screening or Oshiomhole’s recent assault on Fayemi.

During his term as APC chairman, Oshiomhole accused Fayemi of urging him to rig the election in a televised appearance.

Fayemi reacted to the accusation by claiming that Oshiomhole’s and a former State Attorney General and Social Democratic Party chairman, Owoseeni Ajayi’s rigging charges were an effort to damage his reputation.

The Ekiti governor said in a statement posted by his Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, that he is committed to obtaining the APC presidential ticket for the 2023 election.

Even as he promised that no amount of mudslinging from disgruntled people like as Oshiomhole would deter or discourage him.

He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Fayemi has no reason to approach Comrade Oshiomhole for favours for any election. Fayemi has a stellar track record of being a consummate democrat even in difficult times,”
