Nigerian Youths storms Ukraine embassy in Abuja to volunteer

More than 100 young Nigerians stormed the Ukraine embassy in Abuja on Tuesday, pledging their support for the country’s battle against Russian aggression.

It was learned that the volunteers, who numbered around 115 in total, were entirely comprised of young guys.

According to the Guardian, the young able-bodied males also signed a form supplied by the embassy in which they listed their identities.

Bohdan Soltys, Second Secretary at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, acknowledged the news but said that no action had yet been taken in that direction.

In response to a recent request by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for foreigners living in and outside of Ukraine to join the struggle, this action has been taken.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Nigeria has said that it is prepared to punish Russia in accordance with the United Nations’ decision to “adopt and impose sanctions” on the nation as a result of its involvement in the Ukraine invasion.

This was made clear by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, who said it while appearing on a Channels TV show on Monday. Onyeama also stated that the Nigerian government does not support Russia’s invasion of Ukrainian territory.
