Lagos Assembly Confirms Salami As New Auditor-General

Mr. Salami Sikiru Adeniji was confirmed as the substantive Auditor-General of Lagos State by the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has requested that Mr Adeniji’s appointment as the state’s Auditor-General be confirmed by the Assembly.

Following a voice vote by members of the House during plenary, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, announced the confirmation.

Mr. Salami had already gone through a vetting process with legislators.

In other news, the Lagos State anti-corruption and transparency commission (amendment) bill 2022 received second reading on the House floor, following which Dr. Obasa sent it to the Judiciary Committee for further consideration.

While participating in the discussion on the bill, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa 2) and Hon. Victor Akande praised his colleagues for being responsive and responsible.

In a week, the House Judiciary Committee will deliver its findings.
