Kebbi state sponsors 117 students to study abroad
The state government of Kebbi has funded 117 students via its scholarship program to study at three institutions in India, where they will pursue a variety of subjects. The scholarship recipients were chosen by a committee led by Prof Muktar Umar Bunza, the state Commissioner for Higher Education. The award recipients were chosen from a pool of applicants.
The students were addressed by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu at a goodbye dinner hosted by the state government, who urged them to serve as excellent ambassadors for the state and Nigeria once they arrived at their respective colleges.
Although it was not the first time that the state had sponsored students to study abroad, the governor stated that this was a unique opportunity because, despite the economic challenges, the state was able to mobilize and send the students to study abroad. The governor expressed his administration’s commitment to the education sector.
