Alleluya Atunyota Akpobome, who professionally known as Ali Baba, is a Nigerian stand-up comedian, Master of ceremonies, and Actor.

About Comedian Akpobome

On June 24, 1965, Ali Baba was born in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria to the royal family of Agbarha Otor. His is the firstborn child, and lived there until the age of 8. His father is a retired soldier who served in the city of Lagos.

At the start of his career, he began working with Patrick Doyle, Charly Boy, and Danladi Bako and made appearances on various radio and television shows. In 1991, he worked with Prince Adedapo Benjamin Adelegan at DP Lekki Limited.

In 2014, Ali Baba initiated a yearly concert called the January 1st event where comedians share memories from the past year and a top performer from the preceding year is awarded a prize.

Career and Achievement

 

After Akpobome completed his college degree in 1990, he moved back to Lagos, in order to develop his comedic talent he discovered in college. At first, he planned to study law, but ultimately he figured that by making people laugh, he would be more successful than if he defended them.

His first success as an entrepreneur was in 2015, when he organized an event called Spontaneity. Among the Spontaneity finalists are well-known comedian Woli Arole.
