IPOB Speaks On Buhari Ordering Nnamdi Kanu’s Release
According to reports, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, from the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS).
Reports (not from this news outlet) said that President Buhari had ordered the release of the IPOB leader from imprisonment, which was not confirmed.
Since his arrest by the DSS in June of this year, the IPOB leader has been held in captivity by the security agency.
Kanu was apprehended in Kenya and deported to Nigeria, where he is being detained.
As a result of his return to Nigeria, the IPOB leader was charged before a Federal High Court presided over by Justice Binta Nyako in Abuja.
Kanu appeared in court on terrorism-related allegations and was arraigned before a judge and jury.
According to reports that have circulated on the internet, President Buhari has ordered the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Benin.
According to IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the story is inaccurate.
In a chat with Daily Post, Powerful said:
“That is April fool and IPOB will not be moved by mere talk without action, IPOB is bigger than that.”
Meanwhile, the Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Charles Soludo, has said that his government is prepared to provide amnesty to agitators who are willing to lay down their guns in exchange for their surrender.
His statement warned that security agents will crack down on individuals who would not accept the amnesty when it was granted to those who were prepared to put a stop to violence.
