Groups Of Protesters Storms APC National Secretariat Over Candidates ‘Imposition’

Certain members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed the party’s national office in Abuja on Friday to protest what they described as purported attempts by some party bigwigs to impose National Working Committee (NWC) members on them during the party’s national convention on March 26.

Certain unhappy members of the All Progressives Congress have protested at the party’s national secretariat over the purported effort by some bigwigs in the party to impose members of the National Working Committee.

Remember that the governing party shifted the date of their national conference from February 26 to March 26.

The dissatisfied member of the party held placards with a variety of inscriptions, Which includes the following: “We won’t allow our party into the hands of strangers; we hate imposition; imposition will not do us any good.”

There have been reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has backed Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a former governor of Nasara State, for the job of National Chairman of the party.

Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, a spokesperson for the demonstrators, issued a warning to the party’s top brass, urging them to refrain from forcing candidates before of the convention.

He said, “We are saying that the party should not impose any candidate on the people. Party members and the delegates should be allowed to choose who will lead them at the national level.”

Another leader of the protesters, Muktar Akoshi said, “Yes, everybody will give Mr President the respect he deserves and abide by anything he says, but we are sure he also knows the definition of democracy. He knows that it is only good to allow people choose who governs them.”
