Ganduje Speaks As Amaechi Visits Kano
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has dismissed former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi’s presidential bid, only hours after greeting him warmly in Kano.
Amaechi conducted his presidential campaign to Kano on Tuesday to meet with Governor Ganduje and delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s primary elections, according to Naija News.
During the meeting, Amaechi informed Ganduje that he (Amaechi) was aware of the governor’s views on the party’s presidential nomination.
Amaechi said he was in Kano to persuade him to reconsider his mind.
Ganduje is a close associate of APC national leader and presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to Naija02.
Amaechi, on the other hand, claimed to be more qualified than the party’s other presidential candidates, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
According to him, when Osinbajo was a commissioner in Lagos, he (Amaechi) was already the Speaker of the Rivers State Assembly and became a two-term governor, whereas the Vice President’s only other job after the commissioner was that of Vice President.
Responding, however, to the presidential aspirant, Ganduje said:
“Kano is a swing state and we will continue to swing until the end, so try and be part of the swings”.
Ganduje, on the other hand, praised Amaechi for his admirable efforts in supporting the APC and battling for it in the early days of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) leadership.
“We are aware how you suffered for our party at the mega movement of its formation, as DG Buhari Campaign Director, we knew how you were harrassed as Governor of Rivers State and how you were at a time denied from flying out from Kano which made you travel to Abuja by road.”
