First Nigerians Evacuees Arrive From Ukraine
The first group of Nigerians who were stuck in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s invasion has landed in Abuja.
The news was announced on the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission’s official Twitter account, which can be seen here (NIDCOM).
According to Reporters, the residents of Romania, numbering 416 in total, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s private jet terminal at about 7:10 a.m. (WAT) on Friday.
The majority of returning citizens are students who are enrolled at universities in the conflict zone.
Abike Dabiri, the Commission’s chairman, has also verified their presence in a message on her microblogging network, Twitter, which she shared with the public.
She tweeted: “First Batch of Nigerians from #Ukraine arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja from Romania at 7:10 am.”
