Police in Bauchi State are said to have shot two people in an effort to prevent mayhem over another blasphemy case.
According to reports received by Naija02 on Saturday morning, a Christian woman allegedly shared a blasphemous video on a WhatsApp app mostly used by Muslim fundamentalists.
Residents of the state’s Warji Local Government Area were allegedly ready to take the law into their own hands in response to the development.
According to Leadership, the woman in issue shared the allegedly blasphemous video with a WhatsApp group of her Muslim coworkers.
Mrs Roda Jatau, the accused’s name, is said to be employed by the Bauchi State Primary Health Care.
“The woman is originally from Gombe but married in Warji LGA,” a claimed Jatau coworker told the reporters about the occurrence.
“She posted a video of someone who renounced Islam; in the video, the person could be heard insulting the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad Peace be Upon Him.
“Within a blink of an eye, the video started circulating on social media and nerves were high”, the source told Leadership.
However, police were said to have moved quickly, shooting two persons who tried to set fire to an ECWA church in Warji town.
Deborah Samuel, a female student at Sokoto State’s Shehu Shagari College of Education, was slain a few days ago for supposed blasphemy.
Her Muslim classmates attacked and burned her to death because they thought her WhatsApp voice message in a school group conversation insulted Prophet Muhammad.
Because of some of the responses to Deborah Samuel’s tragedy, it seems that even political office holders in the nation have lost faith.
