EFCC Grants Former Anambra Gov, Obiano Bail
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission granted bail to Willie Obiano, the immediate former Governor of Anambra State (EFCC).
Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the EFCC, revealed the news to journalists on Monday.
On the sidelines of the Network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa’s 5th Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Abuja, Bawa gave a press conference (NACIMA).
Obiano, on the other hand, has failed to complete his bail conditions and remains in the commission’s custody, according to him.
The former Governor was apprehended by the anti-graft agency at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos last Thursday.
After turning over to the new Governor of the state, Charles Soludo, there were indications that Obiano was on his way to the United States of America.
Obiano was then transported to the EFCC’s headquarters, where he was interrogated for days on allegations of N42 billion in mismanagement and overpriced contracts.
