
Charles Soludo Sworn In As New New Anambra Governor
Chukwuma Soludo, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been inaugurated in as the next governor of Anambra State.
Soludo took his oath of office in the presence of his wife, Mrs Nonye, as well as his Deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim, and his wife.
Hon. Justice Onochie M. Anyachebelu, the Chief Judge of Anambra State, swore Soludo in.
The former Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is said to have departed the swearing-in ceremony location.
He walked out of the venue with his wife, Ebelechukwu, at precisely 9.55 a.m.
Obiano had come in a procession of automobiles, greeted by applause from the people of Anambra.
As governor, he is now reviewing the guard of honor, which is his final duty.
In a statement, the Head of the Soludo Media Office, Joe Anatune, said the ceremony will take place in a minimal manner at the Government House in Agu-Awka.
The event, which would be attended by a small number of people, would be devoid of the normal celebrations connected with such occasions.
According to the announcement, Soludo would inspect a guard of honor after the swearing-in and then give his inauguration address.
Anatune also announced that a brief interdenominational ceremony will be held before the new governor began his duties.
