Buni Deserves His Removal As APC Caretaker Chairman – Lukman

Salihu Lukman, a former Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), has remarked that Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State deserved to be ousted as the APC’s caretaker chairman (APC).

Lukman claimed Buni was ousted from his post because he betrayed President Muhammadu Buhari’s loyalty and affection in an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday.

He said the president ordered Buni’s resignation after learning about the governor’s concealed plan to stay in power and sabotage the APC’s national conference on March 26.

Buhari made a good move by substituting Buni with Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State as the party’s national chairman, according to the former him.

According to Lukman, Buni took advantage of Buhari’s reluctance to “micromanage” the party’s operations and launched some bold moves.

He said:

Buni betrayed the trust of the president.

“The leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari defers from other leaders’ because while he gives you responsibility, he doesn’t micromanage you, but somehow Buni audaciously took steps based on the kind of trust of the president.

“He believed Buhari would never call him to say, ‘don’t do this’.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, on this matter, I think he did the best he could. And I’m one of his critics. But when somebody does what is right, and the way the president handled this matter is desirable.
