Buhari cancels UK medical trip, returns to Abuja

After attending a United Nations event in Kenya, President Muhammadu Buhari decided to cut short his scheduled trip and return to Abuja instead.

Bashir Ahmad, the President’s personal assistant for new media, made the announcement in a brief Twitter tweet on Friday afternoon.

In contrast to an earlier statement published on President Buhari’s schedule, Nigerians were previously informed that the country’s leader will fly out to the United Kingdom after the Kenya event for a medical check-up.

However, an update by Ahmad on Twitter says: President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja, after his participation in the 50th Anniversary of the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.”

Despite this, the presidential assistant did not provide any more information on the President’s movement or change in plans.

President Muhammadu Buhari will attend a commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Environment Programme, scheduled for 3rd – 4th March 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya, according to a statement from the presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina. After the meeting in Kenya, President Buhari will travel to London, United Kingdom for a medical check-up that will last two weeks, according to Naija02
