Buhari Approves The Establishments Of Three Federal Polytechnics
President Muhammadu Buhari has given his permission for the creation of three new federal polytechnics and the commencement of academic activity at these institutions.
This was made public by Ben Goong, the director of press and public relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, who issued a statement Tuesday in Abuja announcing their approval.
According to him, academic activities at the three new polytechnics, which will be situated in Umunnoechi in Abia State, Orogun in Delta State, and Kabo in Kano State, would begin in October 2022 at their respective locations.
Following the event, the statement said, the number of federal polytechnics in Nigeria has increased to 36, and each of the country’s 36 states now has one polytechnic institution.
He pointed out that this is in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s aim to make higher education more accessible to all Nigerian citizens.
“In line with his determination to make tertiary education more accessible, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the establishment of three New Federal Polytechnics in the country.
“The Polytechnics are to be sited in Umunnoechi in Abia State, Orogun in Delta State and Kabo in Kano State.
“The new Institutions are to commence academic activities in October 2022. This brings to 36 the number of Federal Polytechnics in the country. All States of the Federation now have one Federal Polytechnic each,” the statement said.
