Boko Haram Terrorists Abducts The Only Serving Medical Doctor In Borno Community

As members of the infamous Boko Haram terrorist organization raided the Gubio Local Government Headquarters in Borno state on Thursday, at least 74 residences were allegedly set fire, according to reports.

Naija News has learned that the terrorists have been integrated into the Islamic State of West African Province, also known as ISWAP, and that they have infiltrated the neighborhood in camouflaged Hilux cars and motorbikes.

Dr Geidam Bulama, the Principal Medical Officer of Gubio, was kidnapped and taken away by the terrorists during the operation to an undisclosed location.

According to accounts, the victim is the only licensed medical practitioner in the region at the time.

The new terrorist incident comes on the heels of a similar attack on Mallam Alkali Mohammed, a senior staff member of an international non-governmental organization, in which he was killed.

According to reports reaching Naija News, Mohammed was kidnapped a few weeks ago from the Monguno local government region of the state.

There have been reports that the terrorists rode into Bulama’s residence unhindered at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.

According to a source who identified himself as Mohammed Usman Shettima, after taking away the PMO linked to the main hospital, the rebels returned 30 minutes later and burned fire to other residences in the town.

The householder, on the other hand, said that no lives were lost as a result of the accidents.

Bukar Sulum Zowo, the chairman of Gubio local government area, confirmed the attack and expressed shock over the abduction. However, he insisted that no Boko Haram member was responsible for the fire that occurred a day before the abduction because the fire was caused by a natural disaster that occurred a day before the abduction.

According to the politician, his government is not doing enough to address the welfare and logistical requirements of local hunters and vigilantes who have been assisting soldiers in the war against Boko Haram in Gubio, despite assertions to the contrary.

“The house of the PMO is just a few metres away from the Divisional Police Headquarters and a military formation located in the heart of Gubio town.

“It is very unfortunate that the security situation in Gubio town is now deteriorating these days, as we have started witnessing Boko Haram invasion without confrontation.

“Unlike before where the former Caretaker Chairman of Gubio, Hon Modu Gubio used to allocate resources to the security apparatus and provision of operational vehicles to our Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF/hunters/Vigilantes in complementing efforts of the military and other security agencies in the council, the present administration under the Executive Chairman, Hon Bukar Sulum Zowo is not doing anything in this regard, hence, the neglect aggravated recent attacks on our communities.

“Just yesterday, armed insurgents kidnapped our PMO attached to general hospital Gubio, the insurgents also came back after 30 minutes and set ablaze over 74 houses in the town, fortunately, no life was lost in the incidents,” Shettima lamented.

Meanwhile, Juliana Bitrus, the State Commissioner for Health, said that the ministry was striving to guarantee the safe return of the abducted doctor.

“Yes, I just received a distress call this morning (Wednesday) that our resilient PMO, Dr Bulama was kidnapped by suspected terrorists in Gubio town.

“The ministry is very sad about the incident, we are liaising with appropriate security agencies and stakeholders to ensure safe return/freedom of Dr Bulama, as we solicit supports and prayers from all and sundry, please,” Bitrus said.
