Dolapo Adeleke is famously known as Lowla Dee was born on September 6, 1990, in Kano State, Nigeria. started to write at a young age and went on to author two literature books before starting university. Adeleke attended Dansol High School in Lagos State for her secondary school. In 2011, she graduated from Covenant University with a second-class upper in Mass Communication.
Dolapo Adeleke’s Acting Career
She told Busayo Adekoya of ThisDay Newspaper that she starting scripting films at the age of 21.
She was named to the Vanguard list of young Nigerians making a big effect in 2012, and Angles Magazine named her Best Teen Writer of the Year for her works Flesh and Blood and The Little White Hen.
She was shortlisted for the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in the Best Film Director category for her breakout short film Brave, starring Adesua Etomi and Wole Ojo (NEA 2015). The new movie went on to win Best Short Film at the Best Of Nollywood Awards and was nominated for Best Short Film and Best Actress at the prestigious African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).
In 2016, she premiered her debut highly lauded Mini Series, This Is It, on her YouTube platform, which featured a cast of Nigerian and Kenyan actors. It went viral very immediately, with over 8 million views. The series premiered on several television broadcast stations across Africa and ended up winning the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2018 for Best Television Series. While working as a Show Runner, LowlaDee wrote, directed, and edited all 20 episodes.
LowlaDee was also shortlisted for the EbonyLifeTV Sisterhood Awards Africa in the category of ‘Film Director Of The Year’ in 2016 for her work on the miniseries ‘This Is It.’ In 2017, she was nominated for the renowned ‘Future Awards Africa’ for the New Media prize, and in March 2018, she was awarded the prize.
