APC Debukes The Removal Of Mai Mala Buni

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has disputed claims in the media that Governor Mai Mala Buni has been ousted as the party’s Caretaker Committee chairman.

According to a report on ThisDay, President Muhammadu Buhari has replaced Buni as the head of the party’s caretaker committee with Governor Sani Bello of Niger State.

The caretaker committee’s National Secretary, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, issued a statement on Monday calling the story “false” and “baseless.”

The story, according to Akpanudoedehe, is false, and he asked members of the party to dismiss it.

He stressed that the APC is a rules-based progressive political organization, and that the party’s leadership changes are not disclosed by an unknown source.

The party’s scribe urged APC members to be patient and assist the caretaker committee’s efforts to have a respectable and rancour-free National Convention.

The statement read:

Our attention has been drawn to sponsored media reports on an imaginary leadership change in the APC- CECPC.

“The media report is fake news and should be disregarded. The APC is a progressive political party guided by rules. Leadership changes are not announced by ‘sources’ through name dropping in the media.

We urge our teeming supporters, members and indeed the general public to remain calm and support the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC CECPC conduct a rancour-free and credible National Convention deserving of our great party.
