APC Crisis: See Buni’s First Statement On Returning To Nigeria

Mai Mala Buni, the executive governor of Yobe State, has returned back to Nigeria after spending a lengthy days overseas due to health related issues.

On Thursday, the political leader arrived in Nigeria to assume his duties as Chairman of the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.

Buni was gone on medical leave when dramatic events and disputes occurred,

One of the occurrences was Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State, who was attempting to take over his post as Chairman of the CECPC.

Even while party chieftains, including Buni, have dismissed any breakdown in the party, the events have generated divides.

Buni issued a press statement in Damaturu on Thursday, immediately after touched down In  Nigeria, in which his Director-General (Press and Media Affairs), Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, called to all party members to be peaceful and law-abiding.

He urged party members to put the party’s recent events behind them and focus on a victorious National Convention.

Buni stated that the party’s success is vital and requires the cooperation of all members.

“As we head towards the National Convention, the party needs the support of every stakeholder and member to succeed.

“As democrats and committed party members, we should avoid issues that are capable of diverting our attention from the path of success,” the CECPC chairman said.

Buni said it was a pointless exercise to harbor grudges against persons engaged in recent events in the party, after expressing thanks to President Muhammadu Buhari for the diplomatic settlement of a recent dispute in the party.

Grudges, according to the Yobe State Governor, are harmful to a party’s prosperity, notably with the 2023 general elections approaching.

“We appreciate the good leadership role played by Mr President in resolving the recent events to keep a united and strong APC,” he stated.

All acts performed by the APC CECPC under acting chairman Governor Bello of Niger State remained legal and obligatory, according to Buni.

“I duly transmitted power to His Excellency, Niger state Governor, Muhammed Sani Bello. Therefore, all actions and measures taken by the committee under his leadership as acting chairman, remain valid and binding,” Buni affirmed.
