3rd Batch Of Nigerians Stranded In Ukraine Arrives earlier today
The Nigerian government has welcomed the third batch of stranded Nigerians from Ukraine in Abuja, where they will be housed until further notice.
According to reports by Naija News, the evacuees landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport around 11:50 p.m. on Friday after traveling by Air Peace from Budapest, Hungary.
Following their arrival at Abuja International Airport, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) announced through its Twitter account that the Nigerians had been met by its personnel.
In addition to meeting with the Health Services for medical examinations, the returnees will be required to fill out certain paperwork.
They would later be paid $100 each for transportation and meals as part of an 8.5 million dollar package authorized by the Federal Government to assist 5,000 Nigerians who had been trapped in Ukraine.
Two groups of Nigerians from Ukraine arrived in Abuja on Thursday and Friday, with the arrival of a third group on Saturday.
Nigerians were evacuated as a result of the action of the Federal Government, which was carried out with the assistance of neighboring countries in the Ukraine.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gabriel Aduda, had previously said that the government had taken efforts to guarantee that no Nigerian was left stranded in any of the nations to which they had gone.
The Nigerian carriers Air Peace and Air Max would transfer stranded Nigerians from Romania, Hungary, and Poland, in accordance with Aduda’s statement.
