After selecting the presidential nomination and express of interest forms, Senate President Ahmad Lawan is said to have surreptitiously selected the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial form.
Lawan was number four on the list of contestants from Yobe State who chose the party’s Senatorial form.
Last week, Lawan is said to have discreetly picked up the Senatorial form at the party’s National Secretariat at the International Conference Center (ICC) in Abuja.
According to The Eagle Online, the Yobe legislator and presidential candidate will appear before the party’s Senate Screening Panel next week for screening and verification.
Lawan may have been pulled into the presidential campaign to allow a Northerner to keep the presidency in 2023, according to rumors.
According to sources, Lawan entered the presidential race in case former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a North East native, wins the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination in 2023.
