2023: See What Wike Told Yahaya Bello In Kogi
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has praised his Kogi counterpart, Yahaya Bello, for the state’s development achievements.
Bello was also praised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) contender for involving youngsters in his government and preparing them to be excellent future leaders in their areas.
Governor Wike presented Bello with the award during a courtesy visit to the Kogi governor’s mansion in Lokoja, the state capital, on Wednesday.
He said:
“Your excellency, let me, first of all, commend you for what you are doing in Kogi. I have seen your Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and other appointees that I have seen here are so young.
“Involving youths in governance is not just sending them to the social media for the campaign but engaging them in active governance the way you are doing here so, I commend you for what you are doing.”
Wike was in Lokoja as part of his continuing consultations with PDP delegates to enlist their support in order for him to clinch the party’s presidential nomination in 2023.
He said it was appropriate for him to make a visit to the governor despite their political disagreements, and that political parties were only vehicles for bringing people to power.
Wike, on the other hand, wished Bello, who is also a presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), well in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries on May 30.
Bello responded by thanking Wike for acknowledging his administration’s efforts to integrate youngsters in government and groom them for leadership positions.
To determine the condition of things in Kogi, the governor advised Wike to travel the state and mingle with his party members and locals.
Bello also said that he entered the presidential campaign to build on President Muhammadu Buhari’s victories and achievements, despite internal and external sabotage.
Bello, on the other hand, said that as president of the nation, he would keep the Buhari government on track.
He also expressed confidence that the PDP presidential candidate will rally behind him in favor of the younger generation’s ambition to govern the country.
