Mohammad Badaru, the governor of Jigawa State, has declared his candidacy for the presidency of the All Progressives Congress in 2023.

On Wednesday, Badaru also obtained the governing party’s nomination form, which costs N100 million.

“I would enter the Presidential race because everyone knows I’m a highly competent person to handle the job,” the Jigawa State Governor declared during an APC stakeholders gathering held at Government House Dutse on Tuesday evening.

While speaking to the crowd, Badaru said that he was pressured by his colleagues to run for the presidency.

Auwalu Sankara, the media assistant to Bauchi State Governor, claimed his boss obtained President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval before purchasing the form.

Baduri would be vying for the ruling party’s presidential ticket against the likes of Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Leader, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, and several other aspirants.

In a related event, Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi announced his aspiration to replace President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

At the Hilton Hotel in Abuja, the nation’s capital city, the governor expressed his desire to run for President in the 2023 elections.
