10 Boko Haram Militants Surrender To Troops In Borno
In a raid carried out on Sunday, the Nigerian Army got hold of 10 Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants and their children, according to reports.
In Banki village, Bama Local Government Area, in Borno State, according to a senior security analyst, Zagazola Makama, a group of terrorists consisting of ten adults and five children surrendered to forces from the 151 Battalion of the Nigerian Army.
He added that the militants came out of their hiding areas near Jango village and Mandara mountain in the Gwoza region and surrendered their weapons and ammo to the government forces.
Makama went on to say that the rebels were forced to lay down their weapons as a result of the continuous aircraft bombardment and aggressive intense clearing operations carried out by soldiers from Operation Hadin Kai.
According to the counter-insurgency expert, the criminals surrendered two AK47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one FN rifle, one PKT gun, 120 rounds of 7.62MM NATO ammunition, 31 RDS X 7.62MM special ammunition, three AK 47 extra magazines, three X G3 extra magazines, one 36 HG, two knives, and the sum of N600,000 to the troops.
Those killed were loyalists of Bakura Salaba, a former leader of Boko Haram’s faction of the Jihadi Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) who was recently killed by Bakura Buduma, a leader of Boko Haram who took over for Abubakar Shekau. Bakura Buduma, a leader of Boko Haram, replaced Abubakar Shekau as leader of the group.
